1 Are You Ready for T&N?! Three Songs Streaming Now!

  • October 18, 2012
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music
T&N is a combination of intense organic rock, both melodic and hard hitting, thought provoking music with a purpose.  In a time where corporate America, cultural imperialism, social inequality, and government oppression dominate society, their message is simple, you don’t have to be a slave to the empire.
T&N reunites George Lynch, Jeff Pilson and “Wild” Mick Brown – aka “The Big Three” from Dokken for a brand new 12 song album entitled Slave to the Empire.  Their Rat Pak Records debut, produced by the band and recorded at Pilson’s Pilsongs Studio, offers seven new original songs with Pilson on vocals, and five re-recorded classic Dokken songs that feature sensational vocal performances by Tim “Ripper” Owens, Doug Pinnick (Kings X), Sebastian Bach, and Robert Mason (Warrant).
The band came together when Lynch asked Pilson to collaborate on new material.  “George asked me about working with him on the next Lynch Mob record — and I jumped at the chance” states Pilson.  “He and I started writing, got into a groove and wrote an album’s worth of stuff, all with the intention of Oni [Logan, Lynch Mob singer] writing lyrics and it being their next record.  Brian Tichy laid down some incredible drums at his studio (and co-wrote some music on one track) and we had an incredibly strong start.  Then Oni just wasn’t feeling the music as being Lynch Mob, so it was shelved.  We figured it’d be the start of another Lynch/Pilson record some day. Then, actually, it was Brian who had the idea that Mick, George and I should do a band, similar to what Heaven & Hell was to Black Sabbath, and call it Tooth & Nail (now T&N due to a legal dispute with Tooth & Nail Records).  Because of everything else we have going, it’ll be just a recording project at first, but sure sounds fun. We’d record the classics keeping true to the originals but make them fresh and organic.  Then the idea of doing new songs came up, and it grew from there. ”Mick, Jeff, and I have been playing together for many years” states Lynch.  “When we go way back in time, we always had the most fun when we were just sitting in a room together or up on stage with the three of us playing.”
“Don’t think of this as Dokken without Don -that’s misleading” adds Pilson.  “Think of it as a band with great chemistry coming up with new music that excites them, and also paying tribute to Dokken music which the members all are heavily invested in emotionally.  Don is, and will always be, the singer of Dokken and an invaluable part of the Dokken chemistry.  No one ever wants to take that away or dispute it one iota. However, the three of us do have time tested amazing chemistry, and because we were writers on these songs, I feel we have a lot to express.  If anything, I think this will be a show of respect for Don, not some kind of competition.  I only hope people enjoy it in the spirit for which it’s intended.”
The new material on Slave To The Empire is passionate music with a message.  On the opening title track, Pilson challenges the listener to rise up against the system and think for themselves.  “What did it take to forge your every thought into an empty state of mind / Always looking for what isn’t lost and the first to follow blind / Can’t you see what’s going on / You’re a slave to the empire.”
“This record is not meant to be preachy or overly political” states Pilson.  “We just want to encourage people that no matter where you come from, don’t be asleep at the wheel.”

0 CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED Release First Single and Details For New Album!

  • August 29, 2011

‘Cold Winds on Timeless Days’ to be released October 7/10, 2011!

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED returns with the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut! Richard Christy, Tim “Ripper” Owns, Jason Suecof and Steve DiGiorgio once again join forces to bring to life Christy’s latest body of work, Cold Winds on Timeless Days. The writing process for the new album actually began while the band was mixing their 2010 debut. Richard Christy used his experience on the first album to write songs that catered not only to each member’s playing style, but to Jason Suecof’s production style. The result: demos that turned out nearly identical to what ended up on the album!

With 12 songs clocking in at 58 minutes, fans are getting a lot more music this time around. Recording twelve songs in a short amount of time is no easy feat, but one that was accomplished because of the stellar talents in the band. Christy elaborates further: “I wanted to get a natural sound out of this album, I wanted everyone to be well rehearsed, not that I wanted the album to be rushed, but I wanted the spontaneous live feel and not over think anything too much.” Richard Christy describes Cold Winds on Timeless Days as a “perfect storm of producing” – Audiohammer’s Jason Suecof produced and Mark Lewis mixed, while mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West Westside.

Fans can hear the first single, Zerospan, as well as place pre-orders now on http://www.metalblade.com/cwotd.

2 Sin-Atra (2011)

  • March 30, 2011

Call me an old soul if you will, but I have always liked Frank Sinatra. When I first heard about the Sin-Atra CD , I knew I would have to add it to my collection when it came out. This CD features the vocals of some of the best singers in hard rock including Dee Snider, Robin Zander, Glenn Hughes, Joey Belladonna, Geoff Tate, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Eric Martin, Jani Lane and dUg Pinnick.

This collection is put out by the same folks who did the We Wish You A Metal X-Mas Christmas CD.  That CD has become a metal staple during the holidays at my house, so I knew this had to be good.  Sin-Atra is not just another cover CD.  The musicians involved in this project put their own unique spin on Frank Sinatra’s songs making it a must have for most hard rock fans.

Former Deep Purple, and current Black Country Communion singer, Glenn Hughes shows off his impressive vocal range on the Old Blue Eyes classic “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”

“It Was A Very Good Year” features Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider on vocals. This is a really cool, heavy version of this song.  Bob Kulick’s guitar work is awesome, and Dee Snider gives this song a great vocal performance.

Mr. Big’s Eric Martin takes the Sinatra staple, “Lady Is A Tramp” and helps turn it into a real rockin’ tune.  This version is 100% different from the original, but is a very fun spin on this song.

Tim “Ripper” Owens takes the song “Witchcraft” to new heights with an over the top metal vocal.

Do I dare say that I like the version of “High Hopes” from Scars of Broadway front man, Franky Perez better than the original?  I do….this version is less cheesy than the original version.

I can’t hardly hear “Love And Marriage” without thinking about the TV Show, “Married With Children”.  This version is a very heavy, up tempo number.  Nonpoint front man, Elias Soriano does a pretty good job with it.

The CD closer “That’s Life” features the blazing guitar work of Richie Kotzen, and a solid vocal performance by former Warrant front man, Jani Lane.

Overall, I have been enjoying Sin-Atra, and I think many of you will too.  Long time fans of Frank Sinatra will probably hate this, and I am pretty sure Frank Sinatra (god rest his soul) is probably rolling around in his grave. Hard rock and metal fans will be sure to enjoy these unique spins of the classic Sinatra tunes!

You can listen to this CD in its entirety for a limited time at this link.  Check it out!!

0 Eagle Rock To Release SIN-Atra CD – March 29, 2011

  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

What would timeless songs like “New York, New York,” “Lady Is A Tramp,” and “Fly Me To The Moon,” sound like cranked out of Marshall stacks, crooned by members of Cheap Trick, Twisted Sister, Deep Purple, Anthrax, Mr. Big, or Queensrÿche? This can now be experienced on SIN-Atra, a brand new album to be released by Eagle Rock Entertainment on March 29, 2011. [MSRP $13.98]

This all-star project, created from the team that brought you the merry, molten melodies of We Wish You A Metal Xmas, reinvents the classic songs that the great Frank Sinatra performed and, in turn, made famous. These twelve cherished tunes, written by some of the greatest songwriters of all time, are given a radical hard rock/heavy metal treatment, resulting in electrically charged versions of the classics.

Some of the most potent and recognizable voices of rock rework such legendary gems as “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Strangers In The Night,” and “That’s Life,” including Dee Snider, Robin Zander, Glenn Hughes, Joey Belladonna, Geoff Tate, , Tim “Ripper” Owens, Eric Martin, and dUg Pinnick. Producers Bob Kulick, of KISS and Meat Loaf fame, and Brett Chassen, recreated these songs on guitar and drums, respectively, rounded out by Billy Sheehan (bass) and Doug Katsaros (keyboards, orchestration). Also making an appearance as lead guitarist on “That’s Life” is renowned rock guitarist Richie Kotzen.

These familiar favorites are beloved the world over, but they’ve never been heard like this before! “A fantastic CD,” says executive producer Wendy Dio, “keeping the era alive with today’s musicians.”

2 Ralf Scheepers Solo Album Coming in February!

Ralf Scheepers

The forthcoming solo album from PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers is in the very final stages of production. Some very special guests agreed to appear – the list includes guitarists “Metal” Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD), Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY), Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER) and Magnus Karlsson (PRIMAL FEAR, ALLEN/LANDE). Powerhouse American vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) is dueting with Scheepers in the track “Remission Of Sin“, Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (THERION, DREAM EVIL, KING DIAMOND, DIMMU BORGIR) appears on drums and PRIMAL FEAR’s Mat Sinner is playing bass on the entire LP and produced the album. Achim Koehler is currently in the final stages of the mixing session and will shortly be mastering the production.

Scheepers revealed that his upcoming solo album will include a remake of his song “Saints Of Rock” Scheepers originally recorded with his band TYRAN PACE and a cover version of the JUDAS PRIEST classic “Before The Dawn’. “‘Saints Of Rock’ is gonna be, of course, a little bit more modern and updated than it was [when the original version was recorded] in 1986,” he explained. “I mean, right now we have much more possibilities to make songs sound a little bit more modern, starting with the drum sound and the bass sounds.” He added, “I think ‘Before The Dawn’ pretty much is a straight cover, but the first song I’m playing (nearly) all instruments — just a little more orchestral things going on. Vocal-wise, I just added a harmony vocals, plus the two outstanding guitar solos by maestro VICTOR SMOLSKI (RAGE). The album is like a trip through my entire career from hard driven crushing metal, groovy heavy beats, orchestral epic to stripped down basic songs and of course some nice surprises!”

The musical direction of his forthcoming solo CD is more diverse than PRIMAL FEAR, from the hardest to the softest tones. The album was recently presented to the German press and some of the reactions included

“A varied, magic masterpiece! Intensive, passionate and faithful – a terrific singer!” – Markus Wosgien (Rock It!, EMP, Blast!)
“A surprisingly varied and still compact metal-masterpiece, that leaves nothing to be desired!” – Andreas Schöwe (Metal Hammer)
“The vocals and the songwriting are just terrific and you’ve never experienced Ralf Scheepers so relaxed. The album is a hit! Does the world needs a solo album of the Primal Fear singer? Yes, of course!”  – Birgit Braeckle (Breakout)

Frontiers plans to release the album in February 2011.

For nearly three decades, Grammy-nominated Swedish guitar icon Yngwie Malmsteen has been amazing audiences with dazzling technical speed and ability. Malmsteen’s signature style of playing, which combines elements of seemingly disparate styles of music — metal and classical, spawned the now commonplace genres of heavy metal known as “shred guitar” and “neo classical” and earned Malmsteen the title “the Paganini of heavy metal.” Malmsteen was the first guitarist to have his own Fender signature guitar model (even before Eric Clapton). He has graced the cover of more than 200 magazines worldwide, has won every guitar award imaginable and to date, has sold millions of records. Time recently named Malmsteen one of the “Top Ten Greatest Electric Guitar Players,” an honor he shared with the likes of Les Paul, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. “Guitar Hero” enthusiasts know they have arrived when they are bestowed with the Yngwie Malmsteen award in the Xbox 360 version of “Guitar Hero 2”. The award signifies a 1000-plus-note streak in succession.Malmsteen released the “Raw Live” DVD on June 29. According to a press release, the set “provides an unprecedented and unique look at the rise of a guitar god. Spanning from 1981 through 1999 and encompassing extremely rare footage of Yngwie’s early years in Sweden, this video displays the infancy of Yngwie’s prodigious skills well prior to his first worldwide album and travels through Yngwie’s masterful career, including his masterful performances from his first solo albums, ‘Rising Force’, ‘Marching Out’, and ‘Trilogy’. Also included in this unique video are never-released behind-the-scenes footage of Yngwie and newly shot personal touches of Yngwie which open up the viewer to a side of the guitar maestro which is rarely seen by the public.”

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN RETURNS WITH KILLER NEW ‘RELENTLESS’ ALBUM, RECENTLY SELECTED AS ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE’S “TOP TEN GREATEST ELECTRIC GUITAR PLAYERS OF ALL TIME
“Shred guitar” and “neo classical metal” are two phrases that have been commonplace in the world of heavy metal for decades by this point, but both can be attributed to the unmistakable work by Yngwie Malmsteen.Ever since the early 1980’s, Yngwie has been pushing the limits of guitar, and influencing countless other players in the process. And he continues to impress to this day, as evidenced by his forthcoming album, ‘Relentless,’ the highly anticipated follow-up to 2008’s critically acclaimed ‘Perpetual Flame’ (Yngwie’s first album for Rising Force Records). The album is the second to feature ex-Judas Priest and Iced Earth singer Tim “Ripper” Owens, and features over 60 minutes of incredibly complex, kick ass arrangements.”This title truly is the right one for this album, explains Yngwie. “I mean, after all these years, some kind of force is driving me to create something that totally surpasses everything I’ve done before. I tried to capture the raw energy of a live performance, yet push myself to the most demanding level of playing and composing to harness that elusive magic that can’t just be switched on. All the way out, caution to the wind, but disciplined performances was what I went for. Maybe I did it too, check it out!”
Confirmed song titles for ‘Relentless’ include “Relentless,” “Look At You Now,” “Shot Across the Bow,” “Adagio B Minor Variation,” “Caged Animal,” “Critical Mass,” “Into Valhalla,” “Enemy Within,” and “Caprici Di Inferno.

Bursting onto the scene with such classic releases as 1984’s ‘Rising Force,’ 1985’s ‘Marching Out,’ and 1986’s ‘Trilogy,’ Yngwie instantly made a name for himself, by recreating the spirit of celebrated composer/musician Niccolò Paganini, but within the realm of heavy metal guitar.

Soon, countless other guitarists were copying Yngwie’s style…but there is simply only one Yngwie. Yngwie’s career continued to thrive throughout the world, including such additional triumphs as his totally classical work for orchestra and solo electric guitar, ‘Concerto Suite,’ which proved once and for all that his classical credentials were genuine.
Yngwie continues to receive accolades worldwide, such as recently being selected as one Time Magazine’s “Top Ten Greatest Electric Guitar Players” (amongst the stellar company of Les Paul, Jimmy Page, and Jimi Hendrix).

A respected musician among both his peers and his fans, Yngwie continues to play and compose at a level of mastery that many career musicians only dream of.

‘Relentless’ is a must-have, which will appeal to all Yngwie fans and rock music fans alike. Prepare yourself for a ‘Relentless’ classical metal attack!

Ripper

Following his spectacular enlistment by exceptional Swedish guitarist YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, and his awesome vocal performance on the most recent Malmsteen album, Perpetual Flame (2008), American metal vocalist TIM ‘RIPPER’ OWENS (BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ex-ICED EARTH) is set to surprise the public with the release of his first solo album, Play My Game, in May.

The offering consists of around a dozen brand-new tracks that Owens composed himself or together with renowned friends, such as Bob Kulick, Chris Caffery (SAVATAGE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), Mike Callahan (ex-EARSHOT) and John Comprix (Beyond Fear, RINGWORM).

The list of guest musicians featured on Owens solo debut is even more spectacular: along with Bob Kulick and Chris Caffery and the others, he was supported by the guitarists Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE), Michael Wilton (QUEENSRŸCHE), Jeff Loomis (NEVERMORE), Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL), bassists Marco Mendoza (ex-Whitesnake), Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, ex-DAVID LEE ROTH), Dave Ellefson (ex-MEGADETH), Rudy Sarzo (DIO, ex-OZZY OSBOURNE, ex-QUIET RIOT), James Lomenzo (Megadeth), Tony Franklin (ex-BLUE MURDER), Dennis Hayes (Beyond Fear) and drummers Simon Wright (ex-AC/DC, Dio), Vinny Appice (HEAVEN AND HELL), Ray Luzier (KORN), Bobby Jarzombek (RIOT, ex-HALFORD), and Brett Chassen. “I’ve gotten better as a songwriter,” Owens explains. “And I also write songs that the fans can really get into and get their fist pounding in the air. Both bands delivered records that are straight forward and go directly to the bloodstream – which also happens to be my compositional approach.”
