0 Y&T’s “Live at The Mystic” Gets November Release In Europe
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the international release of Y&T’s latest live album “Live at the Mystic” on November 23rd in Europe.
Following original bassist Phil Kennemore’s untimely passing from lung cancer in early 2011, the band carries on the legacy that is Y&T. With Brad Lang on bass and vocals, Y&T prove their continued strength with “Live at the Mystic”, a new double live CD recorded at the legendary Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, California, one of the most popular venues that Y&T play every year.
Singer and lead guitarist Dave Meniketti recalls “Like all Mystic Theater shows, this particular weekend was special. Having just returned from a near 2-month tour of Europe and the UK, we were very tight and energized to be playing for our home crowd again”.
This 2-CD set includes 22 songs recorded over 2 nights in November of 2011, including many songs never before released on any other live Y&T CD. The amazing heat to the tracks showcases the power of the band as it currently sounds, playing songs from “Facemelter” as well as all the hits and fan favourites. “Songs like Dirty Girl, with its extended solo section of John Nymann and myself tearing into a nearly 3-minute back and forth solo, was especially a great performance” says Meniketti. “Also many of the classic tunes like Black Tiger, Don’t Wanna Lose, and Mean Streak were very well played and show some of the best live performances of these songs we’ve ever recorded. But I also feel strongly about our more mastered performances from our latest Facemelter CD. The energy and much more refined versions of these songs, now that we’ve really had some time to hone in the vibe of these tunes, make it that much more special of a live recording.”
This album screams out to be a classic Y&T CD to have in your collection. Prepare to have your face melted!
“Live at the Mystic” tracklisting includes:
CD1: Prelude; On With the Show; Black Tiger; Dirty Girl; Mean Streak; Girl Crazy; Shine On; Blind Patriot; Winds of Change; Straight Thru the Heart; Gonna Go Blind; Surrender; I’m Coming Home
CD2: Hungry for Rock; Don’t Wanna Lose; Don’t Bring Me Down; Hurricane; I Believe in You; Eyes of a Stranger; Rescue Me; Squeeze; Forever.

0 MESSAGE FROM DAVE MENIKETTI OF Y&T
Family and friends,
As many of you know already, Phil Kennemore was recently diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Phil has undergone a barrage of tests, a long hospital stay at Stanford, an operation, and will soon start aggressive chemotherapy to regain his health and get him back with the band on stage again.
Because of this and potentially more treatments to come, I have put together a fund for Phil so that people from around the world can make donations to help him with his enormous medical bills. I have set up a page for this Fund and you can visit it at the link below, for more information on how you can contribute.
http://www.meniketti.com/philfund.html
Feel free to spread the word and share this link with your friends.
Any donation, no matter what the size, will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
-Dave
12 Y & T’s Phil Kennemore Diagnosed With Cancer
I received an email from Y & T yesterday with an update from Y&T’s Phil Kennemore. Please read below:
A Message From Phil…
To all of my dear friends and fans around the world and on the forum,
Up to now you haven’t heard much information (other than about my extreme back pain) because there really hasn’t been much until now. I hated leaving you all in the dark but I didn’t want to say anything until there was something conclusive to say. We do have a lot more information now. The number one thing you need to know is that I have cancer. It wasn’t absolutely formally diagnosed until yesterday.
With the bad news I also got the good news that along with surgery and treatments, I will be back rockin’ and rollin’. I’ll be getting a hip replacement as well as back surgery, which means I’ll also be more agile. The doctor said that this is treatable and I’ll be walking out of this place and I’ll be able to go on the road and do everything I need to do to continue my rock ‘n’ roll life, in due time.
I wanted to thank everyone for your well wishes. I’ve been sitting here in the hospital reading all of the things that you’ve all posted online, and I want you to know it means so very much to me to see how much I am loved, supported, and missed. I can really feel the love as I’m reading. I love reading your posts on the web site forum, and, in fact, I need to hear it. From here on out, whatever thoughts and feelings you have, please know that I wish that I could personally respond to each and every one of you, but I’m not able to right now.
Brad–thank God for Brad! I’m so grateful that he stepped in to help keep Y&T on tour, bringing Facemelter to the people while I was ordered to the hospital. Right now I think he’s the best guy on earth!
I’ll be released from the hospital within three-to-four weeks, continuing treatment, and at some point, I’ll be returning to the road. Keep the love and good vibes flowing. Do me a favor and go out and see the band now–Y&T is kicking serious ass–and I’ll be back rocking with you all soon.
Phil
1 An Update From Y & T
As fans in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado witnessed at the recent Y&T shows, the band has been kicking serious butt on this summer’s Facemelter tour. Even though Phil was experiencing severe back pain ever since the June European tour, he soldiered on and played the shows anyway. Now, with much regret, Phil’s doctors have ordered him off the tour to get the treatment he needs to move forward.
Extremely proud of the new Facemelter album, and the work that he, Dave, John, and Mike have done, Phil insisted the tour continue. So to honor his wish, we flew in a bass player to sub for Phil until he is able to return. As the band’s manager, Jill Meniketti, posted on the web site discussion forum about these recent events, Phil says: “On with the show.”
The guys are so sorry that they had to cancel the show in Springfield, IL, but Phil was receiving local treatment and tests in St. Louis and the band was unable to continue until that important business was finished. With less than 24-hour’s notice, Brad Lang (of Jet Red fame, War & Peace, and Foreigner) was gracious enough to step up to fill in on bass for the time being to help out the band and keep the tour continuing. He’s extremely proud and excited to be playing with Y&T and helping out for Phil. Brad’s doing a great job of representing the Y&T live experience. We want to thank you all for giving him the warm welcome he’s received on the shows he’s played so far.
For the record, Y&T has only cancelled one show on this US tour — Springfield, IL — and that one cancellation was due to Phil’s medical needs. Any other shows that have been cancelled or changed or moved in any way are the fault of the agent and/or local promoter for that particular original show.
We hope all of you fans who live near where Y&T is playing the next few weeks will come out to support the band, as they play the classics, as well as songs from the new Facemelter CD.

2 New Video – Y & T – I’m Coming Home
Y & T is back, and ready to rock you hard with their brand new CD, Facemelter that is due to hit stores on May 21st via Frontiers Records! Until then, you will have to settle for the band’s brand new video, “I’m Coming Home”. Check it out!!
2 Frontiers Records Announces The Release of Y&T’s New Album Facemelter!!
Entitled “Facemelter” the new album
will be released on May 21st in Europe
Y&T, featuring original members Dave Meniketti (vocals and lead guitars) and Phil Kennemore (bass), along with longtime members John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums) have recorded their first studio album in 13 years, aptly titled “Facemelter” to be released in Europe on May 21st on Frontiers Records.
With a discography of 18 albums and three greatest hits collections, Y&T has sold over four million albums since their 1974 inception. The band has toured with numerous Rock icons including Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Mötley Crüe, receiving constant and extensive airplay with hits such as Forever, Rescue Me, Mean Streak, and Summertime Girls. Y&T songs have been featured in a multitude of movies and television shows, including Real Genius, Out of Bounds, Baywatch, and Hunter. After five US top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T’s hits are still played nowadays on classic rock radio stations everywhere. Y&T’s high-energy music still captivates legions of fans around the globe, proving Y&T’s music timeless.
As the title indicates, Facemelter—the anticipated new recording—is a hard rockin’, song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band’s raw energy and tightness that they’ve become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. To mark the return, the band engaged John Taylor Dismukes—the same artist who designed covers for Y&T’s classic albums “Mean Streak,” “Black Tiger” and “In Rock We Trust”—to create the amazing art of the new Facemelter.
“What a great feeling to dive back into making new Y&T music,” states Dave Meniketti. “After being away from it for this long, the anticipation of writing a new CD worth of material was, at first, a bit scary, but as soon as we started up I was happy to find how natural it was to get right back in it again. I think we’re going to have to keep this up, because musically and emotionally, we still have a lot to say!”
“It’s ridiculous that we waited so long to make a new record,” states Phil Kennemore. “In creating new music for Facemelter, I rediscovered the most important thing for any artist, and that is to continue creating . . . it feeds my soul. My hope for Facemelter is that people might just find a few new favorite Y&T songs.”
“We recorded together to capture as much of a live feel as possible which I feel is the strong point of the band,” adds Mike Vanderhule, while according to John Nymann, “The chemistry we have between us makes it so easy to develop ideas. Now that we are ignited with new material, I can’t wait to bring it to the stage.”
Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-’70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, “you melted my face,” which inspired the group’s first publishing company: “Facemelting Music.”
If you haven’t yet taken Y&T’s new album for a ride, grab your leathers, strap yourself in, and prepare to have your face melted.
“Facemelter” includes the following tracks
Prelude, On With The Show; One Life; Shine On; Wild Child; I Want Your Money; I’m Coming Home, If You Want Me; Hot Shot; How Long; Gonna Go Blind; Don’t Bring me Down; Blind Patriot; Losing My Mind*
* Bonus track included on the first pressing in digipak
