Sons of Angels – S/T (Release Year – 1990)
Back in 1990, Atlantic Records signed Norwegian rockers Sons of Angels to a record deal.
Their self titled disc disappeared about as fast as it arrived. The band had a little bit of success, as a music video was released for the song Cowgirl. The band managed to sell 150,000 copies of the CD, but disappeared before long.
Unlike many of the hair metal CD’s of the early 90’s, this one actually has a little more substance. Great vocals, and a funky upbeat vibe drive these tunes. While Cowgirl is the obvious hit, there isn’t a bad song on this disc.
I once owned a copy of this on cassette tape, but never replaced it until last year. I was shocked to find a used copy of this disc in 2007. A quick internet search, and I found that you can still grab this disc for under 10 bucks (for a used copy) through Amazon.com, and occasionally on EBay. It is way out of print, but well worth the price of admission.

A GREAT release for anyone who likes hard rock! And the band have also released 2 other albums (Thrill Of The Feel & Slumber With The Lions), neither as strong as this one though. TOTF has Johnny Gioeli on vocals.
His disc is in reissue in virgin france! really good fresh rock’n roll:) 12 nov. 2008.

Hi, thanks for still remembering SOA, and for sharing this information. Keep it up ! Best regards from Geir Digernes.
Wow, I also admit that I never heard about those guys before.
Thanks for the head’s up Rob. Have to find the whole album pronto!
Sure wish we would have paid more attention to Hair Banger’s Ball back in those days!
Seems like a ton of bands slipped into oblivion for absolutely no reason.
Nice tune & vid Rob…..thanks for sharing!
Mark, I think you would actually like this one. It isn’t your typical hair metal disc.
I have to admit that I never heard of this band. Even the cover doesn’t look familiar.
