Nick Perri Leaves Shinedown
Nick Perri has posted the following update on his blog:
I’ll never forget the phone call between Brent Smith and myself last year. He offered me an incredible opportunity – one that I am grateful for, one that I have never taken for granted, and one that I will always cherish. The truth is however, after 10 months something inside of me just doesn’t feel right. This is a personal matter and has NOTHING to do with the band, our amazing crew, or inspiring team of In De Goot management, and Atlantic Records. They have ALL made me feel welcome, and for that I thank them. Truth be told, I gave this my BEST shot. I have never done anything half way, and SHINEDOWN is no exception. It is my belief that the band is on a path towards greatness and no one can change or stop that. It is one though, that I will not be traveling. I have decided to leave the band, and make my own path. Respectfully, I will bow out at the end of this year, and I wish them nothing but the best in their collective quest to make great music, and bring it to the world. I have loved these guys since the day we met 6 plus years ago, and I will love them till the end. I thank all of you, the fans – without whom NONE of our lives would be the same – for all of the love and support you showed me in joining last year. You made me feel welcome, and I appreciate that more than I could put into words. Please know how much you mean to everyone involved in SHINEDOWN, and how much you mean to me, personally. On a final note I wanted to thank my brothers – Brent, Barry, Zach, and Eric. You guys are the best musicians I’ve ever known, and are inspiring both onstage and off. I know your all heart, and that’s what makes the difference. My best wishes go out to you, and your families, and I thank you with all the love in my heart for the last year. It was unforgettable.
