S.E.X. Department – S/T (2007)
New glam metal from nearly every country on the planet continues to show up at the Hard Rock Hideout. The new release by the S.E.X. Department from Perris Records is the first that has come from Italy.
The S.E.X. Department has a sound that I would compare to early Motley Crue, mixed with Pretty Boy Floyd. For a three piece band, they have a decent sound.
Something about this release reminds me of the rawness of Motley Crue’s debut. This disc is not as strong as Too Fast For Love, but it is a pretty good cut of glam tunes for these Italian rockers.
Kelly Trash Mendess vocals are not overpowering, but are well suited for the tunes here. The best cuts on this disc are Revenge of the Vampires, Glitter Bitter, Sir Yes Sir and ,S.E.X. Department.
The band’s sound could be greatly enhanced with a second guitar player and more background vocals. That may be all that S.E.X. Department needs to push them over the top. This CD is a solid debut for S.E.X. Department. This disc should be enough to gain them a whole new slew of fans, and help the band build success for a more powerful sophomore effort.
